Storing poppers: what to look out for when storing them?

One thing is clear: the positive effect of poppers does not last forever. The same applies to the fake bottle, which you should store properly once opened.

Storing poppers: Keep sealed for a long time

If you keep the original sealed packaging in the dark, the poppers will last for several years. However, once you have opened the bottle, you can still use the substance for around eight weeks if stored correctly. Experience has shown that poppers tend to disintegrate at room temperature. The effect of the aphrodisiac wears off. You should therefore store the poppers in a cool, dark place. If the substance is too cold, it cannot vaporize properly.

Trust your sense of smell

Poppers quickly become too moist if you take the bottles out of the fridge and open the packaging before they reach room temperature. Under these conditions, it is only a matter of time before the poppers turn into a brown broth with an unpleasant odor within a very short time. You are therefore well advised not to store the bottles in the refrigerator.

Avoid poppers with viscous slime

Some poppers contain small ceramic balls that you should never stir. The problem with these poppers is that the pellets absorb even small traces of water, which may end up in the bottle. If the beads turn into viscous slime under these circumstances, the packaging was not leak-proof.

Avoid heat

You should also avoid carrying the small bottles close to your body for several hours at a time. Because heat limits the shelf life of poppers, you should therefore not store poppers near heaters, ovens, in small storage compartments or in the glove compartment of your car. You effectively improve the shelf life of the substance by keeping poppers clean, dry and cold. As a result, the poppers have a particularly strong effect and also vaporize more slowly.

Fruity smell

If you want to check the quality of the poppers, you can rely on your sense of smell. If the substance smells when the bottle is opened, the poppers are most likely not dry or clean. Clean poppers, on the other hand, give off a faint and subtly fruity, chemical odor.

Beware of extreme temperature fluctuations

As a general rule, please avoid extreme temperature fluctuations during storage, as these can damage the quality of the poppers. If you keep the poppers in the fridge after opening, the bottle is exposed to excessive temperature fluctuations. If possible, you should use smaller bottles so that new packaging is used again and again. A suitable place is, for example, a cellar that is dark and has constant temperatures. On the other hand, you should always protect the poppers from intense sunlight.
